A Hot Time in Paris: Our Common Future Under Climate Change

Posted by: | July 7, 2015 | No Comment |

I’m in Paris along with 2100 climate scientists, economists, policy and decision makers to attend the International Scientific Conference “Our Common Future Under Climate Change”. It’s an exciting time in Paris as this is one of the main lead-up events to the December 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21). We have also been experience record-breaking heat (today is much better with a predicted high of only 88 degF).

Today, I’m attending keynote presentations and am particularly enthusiastic to hear Dr. Thomas Stocker (IPCC) speak. Sessions this afternoon focus on the State of Knowledge on Climate Change.

Tomorrow’s sessions focus on Landscapes of our Common Future and I am chairing as session entitled: “Building Resilience to Climate and Weather Extremes: Sustainable Solutions Ground in Socio-Cultural Context”. Keynote speakers include Kasim-Aly Kassam (Cornell) and Georgina Mace (UCL) with a panel discussion to follow.
